Behind Bolted Doors
The Chipped paint on every wall, the canopy of cables and wires above my head, the old buildings on which if you can read the language of the cracks you can read the decades on them…
But the most prominent part which caught my eye was the CHAUKHAT of every entry. Those big huge Chaukhats and the big battered wooden doors. Most of them had like more than two locks on them. They looked just as old as the doors they were on.
And I wondered….why three three bolts on these doors?…..Are these the remnants of faint hopes of safety from the frequent violent riots that filled up that era.
